WAYNE LUCAS on their Derby Day win with the talented SEIZE THE GREY (’21 Arrogate / Smart Shopping, c) who turned in a gutsy performance to claim the $600,000 Pat Day Mile Stakes (G2). Piloted by JAIME TORRES the grey colt sat a stalking position down the backstretch before his bid around the turn. He then maneuvered through traffic, altering course by dropping to the rail to find clearance and drove gamely to the wire to prevail by 1 ¼ lengths.
Purchased as a yearling by MY RACEHORSE for $300,000 out of the 2022 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale, SEIZE THE GREY has amassed earnings of $619,938 in 9 career starts, finding the winner’s circle 3 times and getting the show placing 3 times.
