Saturday, May 13, 2023: RNA’d for $335,000 just two weeks prior at the OBS April Spring Sale. NO NAY METS (IRE) (’21 c. No Nay Never / Etoile) wasted no time proving himself to be race-ready when he won his first career start in Gulfstream Park’s Royal Palm Juvenile Stakes. Opting to keep their talented colt, Houston Astros third-baseman ALEX BREGMAN & his BREGMAN FAMILY RACING not only got to experience the thrill of victory Saturday, but now get to plan their trip to Royal Ascot as the win in the $100,000 race secured NO NAY METS (IRE) a $25,000 stipend to travel to and compete at the prestigious race meet.
Bumped leaving the gate, jockey LUCA PANICI allowed the colt to regain his action and at the three-eights pole had NO NAY METS (IRE) on the lead and in control, running on to win by 3 ½ lengths over their nine rivals. Trainer GEORGE WEAVER would be given another Royal Ascot opportunity later in the afternoon as his two-year-old charge CRIMSON ADVOCATE would wire the field in the Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies Stakes. Agent MIKE AKERS, acting on behalf of BREGMAN FAMILY RACING secured the colt at last year’s Arqana August yearling sale.

Saturday, May 13, 2023: CRIMSON ADVOCATE (’21 f. Nyquist / Citizen Advocate) picked up not only her first black-type win but also a $25,000 stipend to travel to and compete at this summer’s Royal Ascot meet when she won Gulfstream Park’s Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies Stakes Saturday. Making her second career start after a promising third place finish first time out at Keeneland, the chestnut filly broke on top and never looked back as she wired a field of 10 other two-year-old fillies going five furlongs over a firm turf course. She was piloted by jockey EDWIN GONZALEZ for trainer GEORGE WEAVER and the ownership group of R.A. HILL STABLES, SWINBANK STABLES, BLACKTYPE THOROUGHBREDS, RAP RACING, CHRIS MARA, BLACKRIDGE STABLES & AMY E. DUNNE.
We’d like to wish this talented filly and her connections all the best and safe travels to the Royal Ascot! We’d also like to say a special “congratulations” to our long-time client WHITEHALL LANE FARM as they are the breeders of CRIMSON ADVOCATE. The filly’s dam Citizen Advocate has a 2023 colt at her side by Wavertree grad LEINSTER and is going to fellow grad COLONEL LIAM this spring.

Saturday, May 13, 2023: THE DEL MAR GROUP’s HENRY Q (‘20c. Blame / Lunar Empress) picked up another black-type placing Saturday at Belmont in the Grade 3 Peter Pan Stakes. Trained by DOUG O’NEILL and ridden by FRANKIE DETTORI, HENRY Q added the placing to a resume that already boasted a third in the Grade 3 Sunland Park Derby. He now owns a record of 6-2-0-2 with earnings of $175,140. HENRY Q was purchased at the 2021 Keeneland September Sale by agent DENNIS O’NEILL for $125,000.

Sunday, April 30: Super-speedy TODAY’S FLAVOR (’18 g. Laoban / Evangelical) cruised home a winner in Aqueduct’s eighth race on Sunday in the $100,000 Affirmed Success Stakes for New York-breds. Setting fractions of 22.47, 45.53 and 57.21 TODAY’S Flavor completed the six-furlong contest in 1:09.58 over a sloppy, sealed course.
Notching his first stakes win, the five-year-old gelding now boasts a record of 10-5-3-0 with earnings of $284,830. Carrying the purple & white silks of owner REDDAM RACING LLC, TODAY’S FLAVOR was once again piloted by MANNY FRANCO for conditioner GEORGE WEAVER.

A colt by Into Mischief became the third seven-figure juvenile of the week when selling for $1.3 million early in Friday’s final session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training. Randy Hartley and Dean DeRenzo signed for the colt, who was consigned by Wavertree Stables, on behalf of a new partnership of owners led by Miami music mogul Rich Mendez.
