Friday Nov 3:
Congratulations go out to two very game Wavertree grads, INTERSTATEDAYDREAM (‘19f. Classic Empire / Babcock) and TIZZY IN THE SKY (’19 f. Sky Kingdon / Tiz The Tide), as they ran 1-2, respectively, in Aqueduct’s Turnback The Alarm Stakes Friday. Quickest away from the gate, INTERSTATEDAYDREAM HAD OPENED UP A SIX-LENGTH LEAD AT THE HALF-MILE MARK. But TIZZY IN THE SKY always had the leader in her sights and made a valiant bid down the stretch to just miss by a neck.
INTERSTATEDAYDREAM is trained by BRAD COX. She was purchased for $175,000 by current owner FLURRY RACING STABLE out of the 2021 OBS April Sale. Her 10th triple-digit Equibase performance Friday came in her 14th career start. Off the board just once in her lifetime, she is a MGSW of over $800,000.
TIZZY IN THE SKY is owned by KIM DON RACING LLC and trained by TODD PLETCHER. Bred by WEST ROCK STABLES LLC she is a stakes-placed earner of $243,900 and owns a record of 8-3-3-0.
We wish both of these exciting fillies and their connections all the best in the future.
Sunday Oct 29:
Congratulations go out to WILLIAM J. BUTLER as his homebred colt ROTKNEE (’19 c. Runhappy / In Spite of Mama) lead the way to the wire in Sunday’s Hudson Stakes for New York-breds at Belmont At The Big A. Breaking sharply, the MICHAEL MAKER trainee had command of the field a half-mile into the six-and-a-half-furlong contest which was run over a muddy (sealed) main track.
A multiple stakes winner, ROTKNEE was making his seventh start of 2023 and fourteenth lifetime appearance. He owns a record of 14-8-2-0 and has banked $473,955.
Best of luck to this talented colt and his connections.
Sunday Oct 29:
Making her first career start COASTAL INVASION (’21 f. Omaha Beach / Intelyhente) wasted no time staking her claim to the winners’ circle when she defeated a full field of juvenile fillies at Churchill Downs on Sunday.
Sent off the favorite in the six-furlong maiden special weight event over a sloppy (sealed) main course, the BRAD COX trainee set all the fractions to prevail by a length over the runner-up.
Purchased as a yearling by RED WINGS ENTERPRISES out of the 2021 Keeneland September Sale, the filly blossomed into a $700,000 OBS April Sale juvenile. She was acquired by CLAY SCHERER, agent and now races for HOFFMAN FAMILY RACING LLC and SCHWING THOROUGHBREDS.
We wish this beautiful filly and her connections the very best of racing luck!
Saturday Oct 28:
NAOYA YOSHIDA’S talented juvenile NORMANDY HERO (’21 c. Omaha Beach / Swan Of The Nile) went post-ward Saturday along with six other foes to contest Keeneland’s Bowman Mill Stakes, a six-furlong sprint over a fast main track.
Assigned the challenging post position 1, NORMANDY HERO broke well and was situated third along the rail. Jockey ALEX ACHARD tipped the colt out to the three-path at the head of the lane and persisted with the game contender to just miss the win by half a length. The second-place finish earned the stylish colt his first black-type in five career outings. Conditioned by RADOLPHE BRISSET, NORMANDY HERO has tallied two wins and a second for earnings of $132,488.
Best of luck to all in the future!
Saturday Oct 28:
JOSEPH ALLEN LLC and CHC INC’s ultra consistent TALK OF THE NATION (’20 c. Quality Road / She’s Not Here) took his place in the gate number 1 Saturday in Keeneland’s G3 Bryan Station Stakes to attempt to win his first graded stakes. Runner-up in the Manilas (G3) at Belmont back in July, TALK OF THE NATION returned in September to win the Gun Runner Stakes at Kentucky Downs. Sent off the overwhelming favorite in the one-mile turf event on Keeneland’s closing day, the SHUG McGAUGHEY trained colt endured tight quarters before navigating between rivals to launch a valiant effort from out in the middle of the track only to be denied the victory by a short head.
Off the board just once in his career, TALK OF THE NATION has run 8 times, winning four races. He has been runner-up three times, twice in Grade 3 company. His bankroll stands at $363,360. Congratulations to this exciting colt and all of his connections.
